Hinimok ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel \u201cMigz\u201d Zubiri ang Palasyo na isuspinde ang paniningil sa excise tax sa produktong petrolyo bilang tugon ng pamahalaan sa lumalalang krisis sa Gitnang Silangan na inaasahang magpapalobo sa presyo ng langis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa kanyang pagsuporta sa panukalang suspensiyon ng excise tax, sinabi ni Zubiri na inaasahan ang tataas ang presyo ng langis na magkakaroon ng epekto sa halaga ng pangunahing bilihin, pamasahe at elektrisidad na tatamaan ang mahihirap na pamilya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aniya, kailangan ituring ng mambabatas na isang mabilisan at agarang kahilingan ang suspensiyon bilang proteksiyon sa consumer partikular sa pasahero, magsasaka, mangingisda at maliliit na negosyo na tiyak na apektado ang kita kapag tumaas ang halaga ng diesel at gasolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cI am in favor of granting the president those powers to be able to lower the excise tax on fuel. That move will definitely help cushion the impacts on high fuel cost due to the ongoing conflict in the middle east,\u201d ani Zubiri. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naunang inihayag ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr., na maaari siyang humingi ng emergency powers sa Kongreso upang ibaba ang presyo ng excise tax ng gatong kapag nagpatuloy ang krisis sa Gitnang Silangan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFuel excise tax is a specific tax charged per liter of petroleum products under the TRAIN law, added on top of the pump price and then factored into the VAT base, which means consumers effectively pay both the excise and the VAT,\u201d paliwanag ni Zubiri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcise taxes add P10 per liter on gasoline, P6 per liter on diesel and P3 per liter of kerosene, amounts that immediately take a toll on ordinary Filipino families when prices climb.\u2019 Dagdag paliwanag niya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayon kay Zubiri na malaki ang epekto sakaling maibaba ang halaga ng excise tax o masuspendi, magkakatipid sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo na dahil direktang binawasan ang tax component at maari din bawasan ang VAT portion sa buwis kaya\u2019t maiibsan ang bigat sa consumer.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Pangunahing adhikain ng panukala na maiwasan ang chain reaction sa pagtaas ng presyo ng langis dahil lolobo ang halaga ng transportasyon, presyo ng pangunahing bilihin at halaga ng kuryente na makadadagdag pa sa bigat na magreresulta sa mahigpit na sitwasyon na tatama sa manggagawa at maliliit na negosyo.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKapag biglang tumalon ang presyo ng langis, hindi lang motorista ang tinatamaan. Pati presyo ng pagkain, pamasahe at singil sa kuryente, sumasabay,\u201d ani Zubiri. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKaya dapat may mabilis tayong pagtugon sa ganitong scenario, and I believe granting the President the power to reduce or suspend excise tax on fuel is a good first step in addressing the potential crisis,\u201d giit niya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
