Chinese man previously arrested with firearms and ‘hacking equipment’face deportation charges
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday arrested a Chinese man for overstaying.
The man, identified as Liu Yuhang, 32, was arrested by operatives of the BI’s intelligence division (ID) for undesirability and for being an overstaying alien.
Liu was arrested at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) office in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
It can be recalled that Liu previously made headlines after he was arrested by the CIDG in Makati City last May for possessing firearms and suspected hacking equipment. The discovery of such equipment raised significant concerns about potential security threats.
BI ID chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. shared that Liu has been tagged as an undesirable alien, and was found to be overstaying. Liu reportedly arrived in July 2018, and his visa was updated only until August 2022.
Tansingco warned illegal aliens that the BI has strengthened its coordination with other law enforcement agencies. “Foreign nationals that pose a threat to security should be arrested and deported,” he stated.
Liu will remain in the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.(JA)
