“The Filipino people demand genuine peace—something that is based on social justice, rooted in the fight against corruption, addressing growing economic inequalities, and service that is genuine to the oppressed,” points SCMP National Chairperson Kej Andres. “As our leaders have been clearly involved in corruption and the sin of indolence against evil, it is ever more rightful for the people to take charge of the country’s future to pressure and demand accountability. The presence of multiple schools and sectors in the mobilization is a veritable sign of growing people’s anger and dismay,” dagdag pa niya.

“We are well-aware of the sins of both the Dutertes and Marcoses. In perpetuating bureaucrat-capitalism, Sara Duterte has been involved in unscrupulous transactions, including falsifying receipts with made-up names. Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. has been criticized for his outrageous ₱4.5-billion confidential funds, apart from other issues such as wanton spending and the continuing Marcos family legacy of stealing from the people’s coffers. No wonder, he has become the biggest impediment in the impeachment process,” ani Andres.

“Our protest is a cry to the heavens above and a plea for fellow Filipinos to stand for what is right—oppose corruption, depose the sinful and power-hungry leaders. And as long as our land is not healed from this malady, the Marcos Jr. administration must expect bigger and more frequent protests in the spirit of the February EDSA People Power Uprising,” pagtatapos pa ni Andres.
