SOTTO NIRESBAKAN NI ESCUDERO SA ISYU NG CHA-CHA: ‘SENADO, DI NYO PLAYGROUND’

Matindi ang resbabak ni Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero kay Minority Floor Leader Vicente Sotto III hinggil sa nabuhay na isyu sa charter change.
Isang linggo matapos kapwa patayin ng Supreme Court at Senado ang impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte, ngayon naman ay uminit ang girian nina Escudero at Sotto sa Cha-cha sa pamamagitan ng social media.
Nitong Lunes, direktang sumagot si Escudero sa posisyon ni Sotto hinggil sa cha-cha na nagsimula ng sunog.
Sinagot ni Escudero ang pahayag ni Sotto na susuportahan niya ang pagrerebisa ng Saligang Batas sa pamamagitan ng Constituent assembly dahil sa kasalukuyang pangyayari.
“Go easy. You already sided with the impeachment of the House of Representatives and Speaker Martin Romualdez even if the Supreme Court already ruled that it is unconstitutional and now you’re also favoring HOR and Speaker Romualdez’s Cha-cha?!” ayon kay Escudero, sa kanyang Tweet nitong Linggo.
Tinapos niya ang Tweet sa salitang: “The Senate is not your playground.”
Ipinaliwanag naman ni Sotto sa tugon ni Escudero sa pagsasabing may posibilidad na susuportahan niya ang Charter Change.
“What I said was, if the SC ruling stands as is and the Constitution is amended by merely a SC decision, then I will consider supporting a Constituent Assembly or a Constitutional Convention to rewrite Article XI of the Constitution because the requirements written in the SC decision [are] impossible to meet,” aniya sa reporter nitong Lunes.
Matinding kinastigo din ni Sotto si Escudero saka pinabulaanan ang akusasyon na pumapanig siya kaninuman.
“I’m not siding anyone, I’m all for the constitution,” aniya.
Naunang hiniling ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa upper chamber na rebyuhin ang panukalang amendahan ang ilang probisyon sa Saligang Batas.
