Pagbabalik P60-B sa PhilHealth, hirit ni Pia sa Senado: ‘Utos ni BBM’

Hiniling ni Senador Pia Cayetano sa Senado na tiyakin na maibabalik ang PHP 60 Billion sa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), alinsunod sa kautusan ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., na itakda sa 2026 national budget.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Cayetano na nakatakda na sa 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) ang naturang pondo na pinagtibay ng House of Representatives, kaya’t nararapat na maisama ito sa final General Appropriations Act (GAA) upang matupad ang kautusan ng Pangulo.
“We must ensure that this directive is not left to pronouncements alone but enforced through the budget process, with every peso serving the health needs of our people,” aniya sa statement.
Binanggit ni Cayetano ang probisyon sa Universal Health Care Act at Sin Tax Reform Laws of 2012 at 2019, na dapat pondohan ang universal health care mula nakatakdang sapi ng kikitaion sa sin tax para sa PhilHealth.
“These laws make it clear that funds from sin taxes must go to health. Diverting or withholding them is a violation of the law,” aniya.
