Risa sa conviction ni Alice Guo: “Justice has been served’

Lubhang ikinasiya ni Senador Risa Hontiveros ang pagkakahatol ng habambuhay kay dating Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Gupo alyas Guo Hua Ping sa kasong corruption, human trafficking, cyber crime at iba pang transnational crimes ng Pasig City Regional Trial Court.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Hontiveros, nanguna sa pag-imbestiga ng human trafficking laban kay Guo at kasamahan na hindi na makakaullit ang sinuman na magtatangkang lumabag sa batas tulad ng kanilang ginawa.
“Today, justice has been served. The conviction of Alice Guo aka Guo Hua Ping is a victory against corruption, human trafficking, cybercrime, and many other transnational crimes,” ayon kay Hontiveros, dating chairman ng Senate committee on women, youth and family relations.
“Ngayon, hindi na sila makakaulit,” ayon sa senadora.
Aniya, naghatid ang imbestigasyon ng Senado ng “unprecedented results: it helped secure a presidential executive order banning POGOs, provided evidence towards a guilty verdict, sending a criminal to prison for life, and contributed in the passage of the Anti-POGO Law of 2025.”
“I am proud to consider it one of the most consequential Senate inquiries of my life’s work so far,” giit niya.
Nagpasalamat naman si Hontiveros sa lahat ng biktima, saksi at whistleblowers naglakas loob tumestigo sa Senado “Our deepest gratitude to our prosecutors at the DOJ who brought this case to justice.”
“Sa ating mga law enforcers na hindi nagsawang mag-imbestiga, mag-raid, at mag-rescue, maraming salamat sa inyo,” ayon kay Hontiveros.
“To the Filipino public, maraming salamat sa inyong maiging pagsubaybay at pagbabantay,” dagdag ng mambabatas.
Aniya, bilang Chairperson ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality na nanguna sa imbestigasyon, “this makes me feel hopeful about the work we do. But it is far from over.”
“We will continue to demand accountability from every government agency that failed in their duties, and we will continue to investigate the full extent of Chinese intelligence operations in our country,” ayon kay Hontiveros.
“And to all others who enabled Alice Guo’s criminal empire: the Philippines is not a playground for exploitation, infiltration, and espionage,” dagdag ng senador.
”Accountability is coming. Justice always finds a way,” giit pa ni Hontiveros.
Samantala, ikinatuwa din ni Senador Bam Aquino ang mabilis na paghatol kay Guo at kasamahan ngunit nababagalan sa paghahatid ng hustisya sa ibang sindikato sa gobyerno tulad ng flood control scandal
“Maganda na mabilis iyong hustisya at inaasahan natin na hindi na gagaya iyong ibang mga sindikato kung ganito kabilis iyong hustisya pagdating dito sa isyu ng mga POGO,” ayon kay Aquino.
Aniya: “Sana lang, kung gaano kabilis ito, ganun din kabilis ma-resolve iyong mga issues natin pagdating sa flood control. Iyan ang hinahanap ng tao. Noong tinutukan ng taumbayan at ng iba’t ibang opisyales iyong isyu ng POGO, nakita natin mabilis iyong hustisya.”
“Ngayon na nakatutok tayo sa flood control at sa mga anomalya sa gobyerno, dapat ganun din kabilis iyong paghuli sa mga sangkot dito sa corruption sa ating bansa,” giit pa ng senador.
